New Obsession

My new obsession is Criminal Minds. I never really got into it before because I lean towards mindless television like Mob Wives or My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding. (Which by the way is fabulous even if I spend most of the time reading the subtitles because of those extreme cockney accents.) I caught a couple episodes of Criminal Minds here and there but it never stuck until recently. A&E plays re-runs of it every morning and I have recently started watching it while I get ready for work. With every T.V. show I get into late in the game, I started buying the seasons to catch up. I'm almost done with Season 1 and will be buy the next few seasons shortly. Somebody is having a super sale and they are only $15 a season. Score!

Now on to the things I like and dislike about the show. My favorite character on the show is Dr. Reid. His weirdness is what makes him awesome. He is extremely awkward but in a still a way that still makes him likable. He's that friend that when he starts you just shake your head and tell people who aren't used to it, "Don't ask."  We all have one.

Shemar Morgan aka Derek Morgan
The character I wish would go away is Elle. Seriously, a waste of screen time. I do like Garcia, the computer wiz, though. She's funny and her quirkiness helps balance out the gravity of the show. Derek Morgan (Shemar Moore) is always pleasant to look at. I remember him as Orlando from Diary of a Mad Black Woman. Liked him then, like him now. I also like JJ. It took me forever to place her from a movie I had previously seen but I finally did. She was the love interest of one of the London brothers in Out Cold. (It's a funny little movie that even includes Zach Galifianakis.) Hotchner is fine. I don't have a strong opinion of him one way or the other. I do like that his wife is crazy Andi (Pacey's first legal girlfriend) from Dawson's Creek. That leaves Gideon. The actor who plays him was also Inigo Montoya in the Princess Bride. Seriously it's him. Give it a second and it will all click. My Mom blew my mind with this.
Inigo Montoya aka Mandy Patinkin aka Jason Gideon
Every time I'm watching him as Gideon I really just want him to tell everybody that he encounters that he is looking for a six fingered man and to say, "Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die," to one of the unsubs. Seriously, if only. I also wouldn't mind if his weapon of choice was a sword and he was the best fencer in all of the land. (Side note: My roomie, Lulu has never seen The Princess Bride. Her childhood was obviously lacking. Also I suggest you watch it if you haven't. Or if you want to get old school you could even read the book.)

So far I am really enjoying this series even if I do have to sleep with my bedroom door locked some nights. I don't know why I didn't start watching it earlier considering I find this kind of stuff interesting. (I did consider taking a class as freshman in college called Serial Killers.) I blame reality television. It's loud, obnoxious and it sucks you in. You can't help but gawk at a train wreck even if you know you should pick your jaw up off the floor and run away.
