Olympic Thoughts

The Olympics are just getting underway. I've been watching live and perusing the NBC Olympics website to get more background on the athletes competing in London. Couple of thoughts, now bear with me.

Why are gymnasts still wearing scrunchies? Can't they get a cute bow or ribbon that won't fly out of their hair? Do they have to get them specially made? I don't know of any store that still sells them?

How did Ryan Seacrest get the Olympics gig? He is the man responsible for Keeping Up With the Kardashians and now he is fit to interview the world's greatest athletes (Phelps, Lochte, Wambach, May-Treanor, Wieber, Eaton, etc.) on a global stage and during the biggest moments in their lives. Yep, doesn't sound quite right to me either. Is Ryan Seacrest really one of the best journalists America has to offer? I'm not buying it. He's the same size as the Women's Gymnastics team. (Just a FYI, he's in dress shoes and they're in sandals. Pre-pubescent girls are taller than he is.)

I don't care for Lolo Jones. I'm tired of seeing her face everywhere and hearing about her. She's the female version of Tim Tebow. She's been constantly thrown in my face. Don't ask me why I don't like her. I don't have any rational explanation for it. Something about her just bothers me. I end up yelling at my television and wanting to kick her in the shins.

Men's Road Cycling is the Nascar of the Olympics. A lot of laps, a lot of people who don't have a chance of winning, and only maybe 3 real minutes of action. It's a multi-hour event that could be highlighted in less then a minute.

Don't get me wrong I want to watch the popular events like Gymnastics, Track and Field, and Swimming but I'm more geared up to watch the ones you may not have realized were a sport. For example; handball, table tennis (AKA Ping Pong), rhythmic gymnastics, or the growing of Anthony Davis' unibrow.

The 2012 Summer Olympic Games have just begun. I can't wait to see what will happen over the next 15 days of competition.
