Great Day for Team USA!

Today, Michael Phelps won his 19th Olympic medal, making him the most decorated Olympian of all time. His career has spanned the course of four Olympic Games. He still has two chances left in London to become only one of three swimmers to win the same individual event at three different Olympic Games. He will arguably go down in history as one of the greatest Olympians and swimmers of all time.

Also at the Olympics today, USA's Women's Gymnastics Team won gold. The first team gold for the USA since the 1996 Olympic Games were Kerri Strug famously stuck the landing (with a broken ankle) on her vault routine. The Americans beat silver medalist Romania by 5 points. A huge feat when you think about how many 1/10th of a point deductions there are.

Olympic Thoughts

The Olympics are just getting underway. I've been watching live and perusing the NBC Olympics website to get more background on the athletes competing in London. Couple of thoughts, now bear with me.

Why are gymnasts still wearing scrunchies? Can't they get a cute bow or ribbon that won't fly out of their hair? Do they have to get them specially made? I don't know of any store that still sells them?

How did Ryan Seacrest get the Olympics gig? He is the man responsible for Keeping Up With the Kardashians and now he is fit to interview the world's greatest athletes (Phelps, Lochte, Wambach, May-Treanor, Wieber, Eaton, etc.) on a global stage and during the biggest moments in their lives. Yep, doesn't sound quite right to me either. Is Ryan Seacrest really one of the best journalists America has to offer? I'm not buying it. He's the same size as the Women's Gymnastics team. (Just a FYI, he's in dress shoes and they're in sandals. Pre-pubescent girls are taller than he is.)

I don't care for Lolo Jones. I'm tired of seeing her face everywhere and hearing about her. She's the female version of Tim Tebow. She's been constantly thrown in my face. Don't ask me why I don't like her. I don't have any rational explanation for it. Something about her just bothers me. I end up yelling at my television and wanting to kick her in the shins.

Men's Road Cycling is the Nascar of the Olympics. A lot of laps, a lot of people who don't have a chance of winning, and only maybe 3 real minutes of action. It's a multi-hour event that could be highlighted in less then a minute.

Don't get me wrong I want to watch the popular events like Gymnastics, Track and Field, and Swimming but I'm more geared up to watch the ones you may not have realized were a sport. For example; handball, table tennis (AKA Ping Pong), rhythmic gymnastics, or the growing of Anthony Davis' unibrow.

The 2012 Summer Olympic Games have just begun. I can't wait to see what will happen over the next 15 days of competition.

Today's Accomplishments

1. Took the trash out.
2. Finished season 2 of Oz.
3. Finished disc 1 of season 1 of Rookie Blue.
4. Watched a little Sons of Anarchy.
5. Bought a new earrings, blazer and skirt.
6. Had dinner with the family.
7. Watched/tweeted about the Olympic Opening ceremonies.
8. Charged my cell phone.

I don't want to toot my own horn but I must say that's a pretty awesome day off. Toot toot!

Me So Special

Last night, I scared myself when I took the TV off mute. Mind you, I actively made the decision to do this. Also, while I was asleep I had some crazy dreams. For example, getting cussed out in Spanish by some large lady. Oh, and I don't speak Spanish.

Slutty Pride

Please read the article attached to the link below. It would be amazing what us women could accomplish, control, create, establish if we worked and banded together instead of constantly cutting each other down. The possibilities are endless. Seriously, we could rule the world. I'm  drunk with power just thinking about it.

Disgusted

I'm disgusted with myself because of how bad I want to buy this magazine. My curiosity has certainly gotten the best of me and clouded my better judgment.

On Repeat

Tonight, anything by Drake. Oh, Jimmy Brooks, you get me every time. (Yes, that's a Degrassi reference. I knew who Drake was when he still going by Aubrey.) To get more specific though, I'm especially loving Headlines and Take Care. That's just something they know, they know, they know, they know.

Teen Kingpin

An Ohio teen was just arrested for selling a high grade marijuana in the Cincinnati area for $350 an ounce. He was raking in roughly $20,000/month from his dealings. When he was arrested the police found $6,000 in cash in his room. The kid is certainly an entrepreneur. Check out the whole article here.

Duck Dynasty Father's Day

I meant to write this quite awhile ago but it just kept slipping my mind. Duck Dynasty is a show on A&E about the Robertson Family. They own Duck Commander and Buck Commander. All the men in the family have ZZ Top, mountain men style beards and are incredibly redneck. Which is something they are extremely proud of. Check these guys out.
Miss Kay & Phil (mom & Dad), Willie & Korie (son, CEO &wife), Jase (son & COO), Uncle Si (Phil's brother & Vietnam Vet)

Well my Dad loves this show so I decided to do a Duck Dynasty theme for my father's day gifts this year. I bought him this shirt from the A&E website as his official gift.
I also got him this since he thinks he needs a man cave and chapstick since he's obsessed.

But a gift isn't a gift with out a card and we all know the best gift is a homemade one. So I decided to make my own Duck Dynasty father's day card.
Yes, that's right I made Jace's beard into a card and I even included a mallard for good measure. My Dad loved his father's day gift so needless to say but I'll say it anyways, best father's day ever!

The Color Run

So Lulu and I went up to KC a couple of weeks ago to do the Color Run. If you are unfamiliar with what the Color Run is then educate yourself here. It was so much fun. We met up with my friend PT Cruiser Bruiser (PTcb for short) for the run also. She was kind enough to let us crash at her place the night before. She was running with a couple of ladies who take running seriously so we go separated, unfortunately. Lulu and I took it easy and just enjoyed it. We focused on getting slathered in color as much as possible. I would love to do it again. Check out these pictures below of us for full effect.

Oh, No He Didn't!

I've become embarrassingly obsessed with the Tom Cruise/Katie Holmes divorce battle. I have read every article that I can get my hands on. Seriously, it's a border line problem. I figure Tom Cruise was a little controlling when he insisted on calling Katie Holmes "Kate." Especially since it seems like no one else ever called her that but him. The latest snip it I read recently truly broke my heart. I just read that Tom Cruise foreboded Katie Holmes from doing a Dawson's Creek reunion movie. How dare he try and keep Joey Potter from gracing our movie screens. Doesn't he know the world needs this?
