FNC Propaganda

I just read an interesting blog post written by Kurt Sutter the creator of Son's of Anarchy (my favorite show.) He's been known to ruffle a few feathers and I take most of what he writes at face value for the purpose of entertainment. I often interpret what he writes to be provocative or entertaining. Some times he's serious and sometimes he's just being an ass. I did think his post about Fox News is definitely worth a read. I would consider myself pretty down the middle politically. I'll agree with Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians you name it on various issues because I'm not one to force my views onto anyone. I don't see how you can grow with out different opinions. I do not agree with Fox News on anything, ever. I believe Fox News as their own political agenda and just spew out propaganda to fit their needs. I tend to think of them like Westboro Baptist church. You know the church that pickets soldiers' funerals. Super annoying, disrespectful, distasteful, and rude but at times so ludicrous that all you can do is watch the fools be foolish.

Check out Sutter's blog post at http://sutterink.blogspot.com/. Right. Left. Middle. Conservative. Liberal. He makes some good points.

Dumb

I'll never understand why I watch Criminal Minds before I go to bed. Seriously, not a good idea. Now I'm going to be lucky to go to asleep and when if I finally do I'll have nightmares. Dumb.

Delicious Crack

I bought these cookies from Hyvee yesterday. They are peanut butter cookies with Reece's Pieces and they are 100% delicious. Seriously, they're like crack to me this weekend.

Rock of Ages

homorazzi.com

I went and saw Rock of Ages this weekend. I was pleasantly surprised with it. The songs used in the movie was great. They used Poison, Twisted Sisters, Bon Jovi, White Snake and more. Seriously, who doesn't love 80's rock. I didn't care for Julianne Hough. I think she did a fine job as Sherrie Christian, I'm just not a fan of hers. I think she looks like she's in her 30s when she's supposed to be younger than me. I didn't know that Tom Cruise could sing and I thought he did a good job. I did; however, just see Tom Cruise trying to play Stacee Jaxx and not Stacee Jaxx. I thought Diego Boneta did a fine job as Drew. I didn't know much about him except for his short stints on Pretty Little Liars and 90210. But I liked him in this. Rounding out the rest of the cast was Catherine Zeta-Jones, Alec Baldwin, Mary J Blige, Malin Akerman, Paul Giamatti and Russell Brand. All of them did a good job in their respective roles. Mary J Blige played the Madame of a strip club and the girls dancing there were amazing. They had some phenomenal tricks. Needless to say but I would definitely be tipping them. I would give it a B- overall.

It's YOUR Choice

flickr.com
Lulu and I went out on Saturday. We were originally supposed to go to the local baseball game but ended up seeing Rock of Ages instead. (Review to come.) So we parked half wayish in between the ball park and the restaurant where we were eating. Well Lulu and I were pleasantly surprised when we walked across the square downtown and came across a gay pride celebration. There were rainbows, glitter and drag queens everywhere. Instant love. We were hungry so we didn't stop to gander much and continued to the restaurant. As we're walking up to the restaurant's outdoor patio we can here the waitress talking to the couple she's serving. She says, "Oh, I would NEVER participate in anything like that." At this point Lulu and I are right next to them. She gives us the H to T once over as we walk by. Clearly assuming Lulu and I are a lesbian couple. Well we go inside and sit down and she ends up being our waitress. She was incredibly rude to us the entire time. (By the way, you may not want to be a bitch to the people who are supposed to tip you. You're lucky I was raised better than you were.) She perked up a little bit once Mr. Rogers showed up but that was minimally. I just couldn't get over the level of ignorance flowing out of this lady. Lulu and I are friends. Nothing more. We are both straight women who support equality, like sports, and don't dress like we are on My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding. Lulu's been with her guy on and off for the better part of a decade. I played softball for ten years, the biggest lesbian sport ever, so if I were into the ladies, I'd be with a girl. But I'm not. I'm strictly dickly. It's just the way I was born. Much like how gay people are born that way. They didn't choose to be gay anymore than I chose to be straight. However; you can choose to not be an ignorant, judgmental, bigot. Too bad our waitress didn't get that memo.

Throwback Thursday

I'm going to try to make Throwback Thursday a regular thing each week. Depending on how I feel, I may post multiple songs or do a theme. Today is Brandy's I Wanna Be Down (Remix) featuring MC Lyte, Yo Yo and Queen Latifah.

Face Lift

I busted out some new hair ties today because the elastic had come through my old one which means it starts to rip out my hair. The new hair ties are super tight and not at all stretchy. I pulled my hair up into a bun on the top of my head and it is so tight. So tight that it's like I got a face lift. I cannot even get the skin on the side of my head to move when I touch it. It's so taut that it ain't moving. When I lift my eyebrows my forehead doesn't even scrunch. Much like Nicole Kidman's botoxed face. Not even a hint of movement.

Target's Changing Their Tune

Target is selling shirts (online only) supporting Gay Marriage in honor of June being Gay Pride Month with 100% of the proceeds going to the Family Equality Council. Just a couple of years ago Target was very much anti-gay marriage so it's nice to see they're realizing love is love. Which is the slogan on this adorable shirt.

I Want Candy

This is the candy bouquet I made for a co-worker a couple of weeks ago. She just graduated with a masters and thought this was a cute graduation gift. Hey, who doesn't love candy.
All you do is glue the candy boxes to a Styrofoam block. Then glue the bags of candy to Popsicle sticks and insert them in to the Styrofoam as you like. Then use some kind of ribbon or other decoration to cover the gaps. I used red and black ribbon since those are colors of the school of which she graduated from.
